Enhancing our streetscapes by improving their general appearance and functionality was a major outcome of the consultations on Creating Darwin’s Future and reinforced by key stakeholders and the community at the 2007 Darwin Planning Forum.
Knuckey Street is one of the main east west links between the Esplanade, McMinn Street and Frances Bay.
Key focuses of the renewal will be:
- Wider footpaths and potential alfresco areas
- Weather protection
- New street furniture and lighting
- New street trees and public art
- Better pedestrian amenity, activity and safety.
The Northern Territory Government is working in partnership with Darwin City Council and has started construction of this exciting project. For more information on the project visit the MY0800 site.
